Where is the largest weekly congregation for Christian religious services in the world? With the exception of the special appearances of the Pope in front of millions at the Vatican, which happen only once and awhile, one of the largest Christian churches in the world is in South Korea. Each week more than 800,000 members celebrate the Holy Spirit at the facilities of the Yoido Full Gospel Church.
It is, most westerners would admit, a bit of a surprise. There are some massive evangelical churches in America. Nevertheless, nothing compares to the massive expression of the Christian faith that is happening in South Korea.
It’s Not About Numbers
Even though the South Korean population is only 50 million; it is astonishing that there is a single church of this size. However, the reason this is happening is from the faith in Christianity that has touched the hearts of so many South Korean people.
Cultural Changes
South Korean people are resilient. They went through the Korean War, where millions died and to this day has not ended. The other half of the Korea country to the north is poised to release nuclear bombs on them. A lunatic young man, who executed his own uncle, runs it. His people now face massive starvation again, because his economy is about military effort and bombs, instead of feeding his people.
No wonder, the South Koreans have turned to the power of the Holy Spirit, which as Master Jesus says, will overcome all, not by force, but by loving their enemy. The North Koreans are blocked from receiving much information, but if they only knew, they would see the massive group of the Yoido Full Gospel Church has only love for them. The congregation would rush to their aide bringing food and supplies. After all, they are Koreans! The South Koreans send only blessing and prayers for the North Koreans who suffer so much.

Summary
No matter what a particular person’s religious persuasion may be, one thing is certain, love your neighbors will prevail.
